Presented by Dr. Brent Schnipke, this talk discusses the role of emergency response for patients with IDD. In addition to reviewing the basics of emergency assessment and treatment for patients with mental illness, the specific considerations for patients with co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities will be covered. The second part of this talk will review technological advancement and state-level support for telepsychiatry, particularly highlighting Ohio’s Technology First, and how these initiatives function to provide resources for patients with IDD.
